Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships allow you to earn while you learn.  Not only will you be able to work for an  employer earning a salary but also you will gain a qualification in an area that you are interested in as well as valuable and practical work experience. Anyone living in England, over the age of 16 and not in full-time education may be eligible to become an apprentice.

The Job

It is important for us to work with quality employers so learners get the most out of their Apprenticeship. Apprentices should expect to work 30-plus hours per week. However, there are certain circumstances where this can be reduced, for example, if you have childcare responsibilities or other personal commitments. The work that you undertake with your employer will be beneficial to you in progressing your career within your chosen field.

The Qualification

There are three levels of Apprenticeship you can apply for depending on your current skills and qualifications:

  • Intermediate Level Apprenticeships
  • Advanced Level Apprenticeships
  • Higher Apprenticeships

The average duration of an Intermediate Apprenticeship is 12 months, an Advanced Apprenticeship is 18 months and a Higher Apprenticeship is 24 months. All lead to a nationally recognised qualification.

See the details below for qualifications gained through the Apprenticeship Frameworks that are available through Progress to Excellence.

Completion…where can this lead?

After completing an Apprenticeship, there are a whole range of opportunities open to you.  Apprentices often stay with their employers obtaining permanent job roles with many working their way up to more senior positions within their organisations.  The completion of an Apprenticeship often leads to opportunities to work for a wider range of employers so many decide to see what else is out there and work in other organisations or industries.  There is also the opportunity for you to complete further study as your career progresses in areas such as Team Leading, Management or a whole range of subject areas that can support you to further your career.  If you have any questions on what steps you want to take next, you can always talk to your assessor or alternatively contact a member of the Business Development Team for more advice on 0151 650 6933 or email sales@progresstoexcellence.co.uk.
