New academy puts dream jobs in beauty industry within finger-tip reach
Dream jobs in the beauty industry are within finger-tip reach of a ground-breaking Progress to Excellence Ltd venture in Lancashire.
The company’s new training academy in Clayton-le-Moors, on the outskirts of Accrington, is set to get its learners industry-ready and confident to embark on a beauty career adventure.
And it was because of the ambition of IQA Tracey Jones, that the Progress to Excellence Ltd Beauty Academy has now opened up these doors of opportunity.
Tracey, 36, who has a 15-year teaching background in nails, beauty therapy and make-up, had always wanted to run a business that was different from FE college-based courses.
She said: “I felt it was time to offer something where students could learn in a real workplace environment to make them industry-ready for employers in the beauty business. It’s a massively growing industry with so many amazing job opportunities.
“We’re constantly working on new trends and, because of our vast training experience, we’ll be producing really good learners who are confident to take on any challenges facing them.”
The state-of-the-art facilities of the Progress to Excellence Beauty Academy includes eight training work stations. There are also future plans to expand into the hairdressing business next door.
Working alongside Tracey is Tanya Appleton, also with a vast FE training background, who is responsible for delivering make-up artistry.
Tracey added: “The Progress to Excellence Beauty Academy has the best of both worlds. It’s in a small town where everyone knows each other and has great local support – family and friends are always ready to be used for assessment purposes – yet our learners are coming from Lancashire, Liverpool and parts of Cheshire as well.
“In fact, 20 new learners enrolled in a matter of a couple of weeks – it’s like we’re going at 100 miles an hour!”
The Progress to Excellence Beauty Academy specialises in NVQs, Diplomas and VRQs in beauty, nails and make-up. Most courses are funded through an Advanced Learner Loan which (subject to eligibility) is available to individuals aged 19 and over, who choose to study a Level 3 to Level 6 course. It’s easy to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan, and household income isn’t taken into account. There’s also no credit check or upper age limit.
The loan will not be paid back until income is over £21,000 a year; further details can be found here.
