Access to Higher Education (HE)

Information for learners

What is a distance learning, Access to Higher Education (HE) qualification?

Access to HE qualifications are for individuals aged 19+ who do not have the qualifications required to enter HE, but who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification. They are specifically designed to help learners progress on to higher education upon successful completion of the qualification.

Distance learning means that your course, including your exams, will be completed at home with no requirement to attend a college or night class to complete your course. You will be provided with a dedicated tutor who will support you through your qualification from start to finish.

Qualifications are funded commercially, normally via a Advanced Learner Loan. You can find out more about how they work here.
