This qualification will enable you to become fully competent in dental nursing by giving you the knowledge and skills in direct chair side work as well as providing support in a range of dental treatments.

Course duration and attendance

This course will between 18-22 months. During this time, your Assessor will come out on a regular basis and deliver your qualification with the workplace.

There will also be some self-study and off-the-job elements, however your tutor will offer advice and guidance around this.

Mandatory units include:

  • First Aid Essentials
  • Reducing risks to Health and Safety in the dental setting
  • The role and responsibilities of a dental nurse
  • Prepare and maintain environments, instruments and equipment for clinical dental procedures
  • Principles of infection control in the dental environment
  • Provide chairside support for the assessment of patients oral health
  • Contribute to the production of dental images
