Apprenticeship will put Hannah on road to rewarding career
A rewarding career is now within reach of Hannah Harrison since she made the decision to take on further training within her workplace.
Hannah, 24, is working towards her Business Administration Level 2 apprenticeship with Progress to Excellence Ltd. She will achieve the nationally recognised qualification in October.
Her job is Administrative Assistant at Biofortuna Ltd, a company based on The Croft Business Park in Bromborough that develops and manufactures freeze-dried molecular diagnostic kits for laboratories.
Describing her previous working life in retail, she said: “I’d been doing the job for four years and didn’t feel I was getting anywhere. It was part-time shift work; not only did that not suit me, it was also a case of me having no direction for a proper career.
“I hadn’t a clue what I specifically wanted to do with my life then this opportunity came up for a job at Biofortuna. It was the push I needed to move me on from a job where there was little satisfaction.
“In truth, I still don’t know where I would like my career path to take me but I know I’m heading in the right direction, towards something more rewarding. My apprenticeship is going to help me get there by giving me new knowledge and skills which I can take forward.
“I love everything about my job now. Every day I look forward to going to work.
“I’m getting first-hand experience – doing general office duties, greeting clients as well as creating and inputting information onto our databases – and learning every day.
“My apprenticeship helps me apply what I do to my job, to the units I am studying, making it a great way to put the theory into practice.”
Looking ahead, Hannah would like to tackle a Level 3 apprenticeship once her Level 2 is completed.
She added: “Taking on the challenge of this new job and the learning processes involved will open up so many more opportunities for me and make me more marketable when it comes to progression in the workplace.”
