Ideal for care professionals already established within the industry, looking to gain new skills and knowledge

As a Lead Adult Care Worker you will make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. You will be expected to exercise judgement and take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control.
By providing leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery you will be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support.
Lead Adult Care Workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings.

Who can do this course?

This course will support learners in developing their skills within health and social care. This qualification can lead to further career progression within the care sector.

Course duration and attendance

This apprenticeship will take between 18-22 months to complete. Over the length of your course, you will receive face to face visits from your assessor at your workplace. There will also be some self-study elements, however, your tutor will offer advice and guidance around this.

What you will study

  • Lead Adult Care Worker Standard
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (England) (QCF) (adult care pathway only)
  • The Care Certificate
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and mathsA self-assessment in the last month of your apprenticeship to enable you to see whether you are confident that you have taken on board all aspects of the occupation. This self-assessment will be submitted to the independent end-point assessor as a source of evidence to prepare for the professional discussion within your final end-point assessment (EPA). Your diploma will be awarded by Skillsfirst. The details of your diploma will be available via the Skillsfirst website at www.skillsfirst.co.uk.

Functional Skills

This is a mandatory part of the course unless you already hold relevant Functional Skills/Key Skills qualifications or GCSE English and maths.
Certificates must be provided for exemption from this part of the course. You will be asked to complete an initial assessment at induction to help us support you with this. You will then be assigned an assessor in this area to fully support you throughout this part of your course. You will be required to sit short examinations to complete Functional Skills.
