Progress to Excellence Ltd chief to judge Wirral Business Awards
Damian Burdin, Chief Executive at Progress to Excellence Ltd, has been chosen to be on the judging panel of Wirral Business Awards 2019, one of the biggest business events in the North West.
He will join other judges who have all been selected for their broad knowledge and experience in industry and commerce throughout the region.
The awards, organised by Mills Creative Media and supported by Wirral Chamber of Commerce, will be held at The Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, on June 21 to celebrate best practice and the positive impact local businesses make on the national and international economy.
Damian, who heads up the national apprenticeship and commercial training provider which has its base firmly rooted on Wirral, said: “Wirral has a huge amount of business talent and the awards are the ideal platform to showcase the enterprise and innovation of these companies and the huge contribution they make to the local, national and international economy.
“The event’s diverse categories of excellence in sustainability, manufacturing, international trade and people development reflect the range of brilliance that contributes to the success of our thriving local economy, helping to put Wirral on the map.
“Each year, competition to win one of these coveted awards gets more intense and I am delighted to be taking part in the judging process and to join in celebrating the best of our businesses.”
With a background mainly in coaching and training, Damian’s main operational focus at Progress to Excellence Ltd is to work closely with employers to improve quality systems and raise the standards of the qualifications delivered to them.
He also sees his role as inspiring his own workforce to share in the company’s corporate social responsibility ethos by helping to make a difference to the lives of people in the local community.
With Progress to Excellence Ltd being major employer on Wirral, a significant focus for Damian is currently on examining how sector specific training and recruitment can narrow skills gaps as well as achieve career aspirations for many young people, apprenticeships increasingly being seen a means of developing vital skills in Liverpool City Region.
Paula Basnett, Chief Executive at Wirral Chamber of Commerce, added: “I am sure that Damian will bring great expertise and add much value to the difficult decisions which the judging panel will have to make.
“The quality, innovation and enterprise of the awards applications are always very high and Damian’s enthusiasm, knowledge and his commitment to supporting our businesses will be very positive in making the choices.”
